TEHRAN — A seminar was held at the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Embassy in Paris to discuss Iran’s commercial trend, the Persian service of IRNA reported here on Tuesday.

The one-day gathering attended by Central Bank of Iran (CBI) governor Ebrahim Sheibani as well as a number of representatives and CEOs of French companies was held in collaboration with the Iran-France Trade Development Center.

Elaborating on Iran’s capacity for investments in particular in the sectors such as foodstuffs, packaging, agricultural and automotive industries, the CBI governor referred to the low quality packaging of Iranian goods as a major flaw. He said, Iran’s annual dates production stood at one million tons but, due to lack of a decent packaging technology only 10,000 tons of it is exported.

He also commented on Iran’s auto industry and asserted that, there were ample opportunities for investment in the production of heavy vehicles in Iran, the country is currently suffering shortages of trucks seriously needed for its heavy vehicle transportation fleet.

Also, present at the meeting was the French senator Daniel Gullet who pointed to the seminar as an important venue for the exchange of views and ideas on investments between the Islamic Republic and France.
